Christmas Gumdrop Cookies
2 cups Brown sugar (packed)
1 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Buttermilk or water
2 Eggs
3 1/2 cups All purpose flour
1 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Salt
3 cups Gumdrop candies (chopped)
Mix together the brown sugar, shortening, buttermilk and eggs. Stir in the flour, baking soda, salt and chopped gumdrops. Cover mixture and
refrigerate for about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie
sheets. Bake until almost no indentation remains when touched, usually about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove quickly from cookie sheets.
