Sugar Cookie Frosting

4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup shortening or butter
5 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
Food coloring (if desired)

In large mixing bowl, cream together butter or shortening and sugar until smooth. Slowly add in milk and vanilla extract using an electric mixer. Mix until stiff and smooth, takes 4-5 minutes. Stir in food coloring until you get the desired color.
