This is Mrs. Fields original recipe.
2 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/4 tsp Salt
1 cup Dark brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup Butter (softened)
2 Large eggs
2 tsp Vanilla extract
For the topping:
3 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. In small bowl combine the sugar and cinnamon to make the topping. Set aside.
In medium bowl, combine together the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well, set aside. In another large bowl, blend the sugars with an electric mixer set on a medium speed. Mix in the butter, it should form a grainy paste. Scrape the sides of bowl. Then add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix together on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the flour mixture, blending on low speed until just combined. Avoid overmixing. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls with your hand, rolling each one in the cinnamon sugar topping mixture. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheets, making sure they are 2″ apart. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes. When cookies come out of oven, remove from cookie sheet with a spatula immediately and allow to cool on wire racks or a flat, cool surface.
