Cinnamon Twists

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine (room temperature)
2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 egg
1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon (ground)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix first four ingredients in large bowl on medium speed or mix with spoon by hand. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Cut dough in half. Add cinnamon into one half. Form one teaspoon of each dough (plain and cinnamon) into 3 inch long rope. Put ropes side by side and gently twist. Repeat with remaining dough. Put on ungreased baking sheet approximately 2 inches apart. Bake 9 minutes or until a very light brown. Remove and place on wire rack.
