Moravian Ginger Cookies

1/3 cup molasses
1/4 cup shortening
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Dash ground nutmeg
Dash ground allspice
Easy Creamy Frosting (recipe below)

Easy Creamy Frosting Ingredients:

1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 tablespoon half-and-half

Mix molasses, shortening and brown sugar in large bowl with spoon. Stir in remaining ingredients except Easy Creamy Frosting. Cover and refrigerate about 4 hours or until firm. Heat oven to 375º. Roll half of dough at a time 1/8″ thick or until paper-thin on floured cloth-covered surface. Cut into 3″ rounds with floured cutter. Place about 1/2″ apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 1/8″ thick cookies about 8 minutes, paper-thin cookies about 5 minutes, or until light brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Frost with Easy Creamy Frosting.

Easy Creamy Frosting Directions:

Mix all ingredients until smooth and spreadable.
