Sour Cream Cookies

1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans, optional
Browned Butter Glaze (recipe below)

Browned Butter Glaze Ingredients:

1/3 cup butter or margarine
2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons hot water

Heat oven to 375º. Beat brown sugar, sour cream, shortening, vanilla and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in pecans.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched in center. Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Spread with Browned Butter Glaze.

Browned Butter Glaze Directions:

Heat butter in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown; remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients until smooth and spreadable.
